Overcoming your Fears and Nightmares
Exposure therapy is a strategy to work through specific phobias (fears) and to process single event trauma. In this style of therapy, the clinician guides their client to expose themselves to their fear slowly while in relaxed states to decrease their feelings of fear over time.
Prolonged memory exposure is used similarly to treat single event trauma by having clients enter a relaxed state and remember the event for longer periods of time over several sessions. Over time the event no longer "feels" triggering or traumatic.
